My wife and I will be in the old country during June. I'm sure that I wouldn't be able to devote a whole day to gaming but I might be able to swing an evening of gaming. We'll be in the UK from the 6th through to the 19th. We're overnighting in London, Norwich, York, Berwick upon Tweed, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Chester and Warwick. If anyone in the vicinity of these BUAs is up to hosting a reprobate from the colonies for an evening of DBA please respond either here or via a PM.
Cheers,

Let me know what date(s) you'll be in Glasgow. If it's a Tuesday you're very welcome to join us at the Phoenix Wargames Club, otherwise we can arrange a DBA session on the appropriate day.
Cheers Euan

Hi Euan,
Thanks very much for your kind offer. We arrive in Glasgow on the 15th of June for one night. However, here's the rub. The 15th is my wife's birthday. So I don't think it would be very politic of me to be out gaming. Any other night and I would be there with bells on.
Cheers,

Cheers, There's a tournament in Bakewell, Derbyshire in the glorious Peak District on 10th June. Not sure how close you might be to that one?? (Also, if you're passing near Warwick you're not too far from the Coventry base of the Scimitars, who play a fair bit of DBA). Martin

Thanks for the heads up Martin. On the 10th we'll be traveling from Norwich to York, so I think that may be out of the question.

Hi Greg
Martin is correct. I'm at the Scimitar (Coventry) club and DBA is my favourite game.
I'm just 10 miles from Warwick and I work in Leamington which is a stroll away. I would be VERY happy to host DBA. Looks like a heavy schedule What will your Warwick date be?
Be warned I have a history of in-situ DBA and I'm close enough to refight Bosworth, Edgecote & Evesham (as well as several ECW sites) on the original site if that appeals. Otherwise I'm happy to do it in the warm and dry.
My partner Maggie & I would be pleased if you and your wife came and ate with us as well.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your very kind offer of dinner and a game or two of DBA. Lorraine and I will be in Warwick on the night of the 17th of June and would be delighted to accept your hospitality. Our lodgings in Warwick is the Tudor House Hotel. Before we depart Australia I'll PM you and we can exchange details.
Cheers,

Hi Greg No worries, I think you've made the right decision there. Give me a shout if you need any suggestions on things to do and places to visit while you're here. Cheers Euan

Hi Euan,
Our drive from Edinburgh to Glasgow will be a roundabout one. We'll be traveling via Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond. What would you suggest we see whilst in Glasgow and can you recommend a good restaurant for Lorraine's birthday dinner?
Cheers,

Greg,
Some very late advice, but can I suggest the following.
The Royal Armoury at Leeds - the old armoury is now a military museum focusing on British military equipment and history, and with a very nice cafe and gift shop. Its a fascinating place. A lot of "museum theatre" - western gunfights, medieval sword fights, weapons talks (including handling said weapons). Plus some Tibetan armour! A mate and I spent 6 hours there and didn't make it to the top floor.
Bannockburn - a new visitors centre and refurbished statue of Bruce make this well worth a visit. There is even a computer version of the battle in which you can command one side or the other. Adding to the enjoyment, the staff happily acknowledged that they are in the wrong place, with historians and experts now believing the battle actually occurred a few kilometres away.
Stirling Castle - better than Edinburgh castle because its a relatively complete/authentic medieval castle and with far less tourists! From the battlements you really do appreciate why Stirling is so strategically important to any military campaign in Scotland.

Enjoyed many a pint of ale in there!
