For those with access to UK TV, at 2100 GMT/UTC / 9pm tonight on BBC 4 there's a new series of Time Commanders, in which players take one side in computer moderated re-enactments of battles from history.
Tonight - ZAMA.

I knew I'd seen a trailer for this somewhere. I'll watch it on catch-up whilst the little one is in his jumperoo.

Just watched it and it was fun, although I thought the Roman commander was quite pompous.
It was amusing when his rehearsed line of: "By Jupiter, we have them!" was followed by a bunch of his troops getting their heads kicked off.

Typically English way of playing to the camera . Had a certain 'modern aristo' authenticity, I thought

Possibly, although this seemed a rather risky thing to do with the testosterone-filled Scottish wrestlers bristling at his Englishness!!

Possibly, although this seemed a rather risky thing to do with the testosterone-filled Scottish wrestlers bristling at his Englishness!! Ruffling the feathers of our neighbours is an English pastime.....yes, unwise, and possibly risky, but also hard to resist (and often done with no thought whatsoever as to the consequences). Centuries of insensitivity is very hard to grow out of...... . We've practiced, globally, until we're very very good at it. M (Realistically, I would imagine the Scots just thought the guy was doing a graaand job of living up to the English stereotype - you just can't teach that stuff....)

I used to love this sort of banter when I worked onshore/off shore in Scotland, even down to the expectation and silence before and during the weekly screening of "Still Game".😆 I must admit before the lads who went Roman spoke I knew what to expect and wanted to see them fail.

Just watching the (recorded) TC on Catalaunian Plains. Apparently, Aetius was, in effect, 'the king of Gaul'. Talk about dumbing it down ....
