Upping the Ante
The test series (Roman Tour) was completed in August with Rome earning a better than average score. Intending to increase that score, plans are underway for a second tour using 24 elements. The list of opponents, consisting of 24 elements, is reduced to 10, but these should provide Rome with the necessary anguish and headache of a hard match. The latest post gives an overview of games played using the standard 12 elements. dbagora.blogspot.com/2023/11/upping-ante.html

Six elements of Late Roman auxilia are done and varnished. Shield patterns were changed at the last moment. Too many with blue ground colour.
In the pack, half had helmets, others are bare-headed. Those without helmets have unusual shield patterns; frontier units.
Cleaning the legionnaires and artillery at the moment. This is called progress.

Late Roman legionnaires and artillery are done and based. Last step, eight elements of cavalry and light horse.
Today, I will make a dozen draco standards (brass wire + Milliput).

Ten elements of Late Roman cavalry are done and await a varnishing. Started painting the draco standards, Thursday texturing the bases.
Photos and a write-up at the end of the week.

32 elements of Late Imperial Roman (eastern) are done, flocked and stored. Waiting for a suitable day to take photos this week.
Work bench is cleared for a few test games, Rome vs the Dacians or other Germanic tribe.
Afterwards, back to my list of construction projects, late medieval buildings or fortifications.

I enjoyed the article on making the Draco standards. Great use of them to identify unit types.
What are your sources on the Nobades? I’d like to read more about that period.
We have Auximites and Kush figures in our Feudal Castings range.
