I am not sure if this was ever posted in the old Fanaticus but I am finding it useful for my upcoming project. The site has overlaid the Peutinger Map of the Roman Empire to be overlaid on a modern geographical map spanning the breadth of the empire. Resting the cursor at each junction will reveal the Roman name of the city. www.omnesviae.org/nl/

Interesting ! I'm always impressed, every time I realise again how huge was the roman empire, especially for that time (administration, logistics, tec)

I found overlaying the Roman map on mountain ranges and river lines gave a sense of distance and obstacles armies had to traverse during say the civil wars of the 3rd and 4th century AD.
