Just a quick heads up that, further to conversations with Martin Myers, I will be carrying forward the Midlands Open in Bakewell next year, following the format that was used previously.
I am looking at dates between mid-May and mid-June 2017 (avoiding 1/2 term). Does anyone know of any DBA or other wargaming clashes during that period?
I will put out some date options in due course to see if I can find a date that suits as many people as possible.
Regards,
Simon

Only things I can spot on my calendar from THIS year were :- Midlands DBA 8th May '15 Your own Bakewell 18th June, and Valhalla Farnborough 19th. Coventry HOTT was 26th June.
Dates-wise, I personally can't guess that far ahead, though Uni pickup may be early/mid June, but far from certain.
Is it planned to be an Open event?

Thanks Martin. I am intending to continue the existing open format if there is interest.

In the original Midland Open we banned book 4 from memory, due to dismounting knights, so not a full open.
Cannot remember what MM did, you might want to check.

Thanks David. Martin has mentioned this to me - it was a 2.2 thing and he went to fully open post v3.

Hi Mark
If I can get 6/8 + people to bring their toys to Bakewell and throw some dice, I'd be more than happy to put on Midlands Open and then perhaps a later weird themed one a bit like the LH and Arty one last year.
I am just looking to see how the 2017 DBA calendar is developing so that I don't clash with events tied to major shows or other well embedded tournaments.
Regards.

...or perhaps look at another weird combi theme that presents some interesting challenges? Always fancied a good elephant scrap....
Any ideas?

That would be for a potential additional stand alone event at Bakewell after the Midland. The Midland Open would stay open.

I am thinking of running this in Bakewell on either 10 or 11 June. Could you please let me know if you are interested and, if so, preferred day (Saturday or Sunday) or any definitely can't do day.
Thanks Simon
PS - a sign of our topsy turvy times that the Midland Open might well be happening further North than the Northern Cup!

Saturdays tend to be easier from a public transport point of view, but no real preference really. Not sure I'll be able to make it, but would really like to. Have fun,

Either day would be ok for me Simon, but a 'heads up' that there is also an RHS Flower show at Chatsworth that weekend, so traffic might be busy for anyone thinking of coming in via Chesterfield or Buxton.
