I always thought it would be great if everyone had same army, granted a bit of a mare to decide which army everyone has. .............. We gave it a good go at Britcon, Baldie; twelve players, 30 permitted armies, four identical Other Chinese (I/32c).

Narrow time bands and geographical areas does discourage players…..not many have a long list of available armies. Also, there’s a danger of it getting ‘samey’… Personally, I enjoyed the low grade armies we had to use at Bakewell a while back…no more than 2 elements factor over +3. I like that idea; since psiloi ‘heavy’ armies can be fun. Tony’s videos of these matchups always seem to produce good games. Yep those Psiloi Pstupidity games are good .

Here in Australia MarkBB and I have run a number of themed tournaments, including Push of Pike (min of 4 Pk elements), A Knight to Remember (min of 4 Kn elements), Wimp Wars (min of 6 Ps/LH/LCm elements), The Great Unwashed (min of 2 Hd elements) and this year's MOAB Battle of the (War)Bands (min of 4 Wb elements and may have up to 2 Kn/El elements).
Future themes may include Wheels of Fire, Darken the Skies and Prancing Ponies. David Lawrence (aka Macbeth) also runs his annual Collision Course tournament.
To ensure maximum numbers plenty of notice is essential so that potential players have enough time to build an appropriate army.
Cheers,

Everyone brings an army but randomised armies when opponents are chosen call it "Keys in the bowl", you may never play with your force ever or play with it every game. ….long overdue you came to a Scramble (Tarrington Tourney now the Cold Ash Clash!) 😀 Next one in November.

Then taking inspiration from Little Wars TV, you can play any army but dress in the right costume. "Keys in the bowl" ?? What sort of parties do you go to? "dress in the right costume" nice idea but can we ban Greeks who thought nudity heroic!
