An overwhelming number of very close friends to the current title holder have informed me that he would be honoured to be associated with legendary FA Cup winning Portsmouth team of 1939 -1945. Ring out you Pompey bells! We are not sure that the Northern Cup is in such good hands. ................. But at least the current holder of the Northern Cup will have ample time to get it engraved. id like to think he got it done the day after he’d won it 😉 P

Knowing him (vaguely) I expect he is waiting to add; 2021, 2022, 2023 etc. Some people are just so like that!

Unfortunately lockdown prevented an early engraving but the recent easing of rules have allowed a trip to the local engraving shop.
I asked the man in the shop for some advice about the font style and size to use. He said, for comparison, that the previous winner had used the largest font size available for an engraving machine and put his name in bold capitals. I decided on something a little less ostentatious, otherwise Paul would have to be buying a new trophy, as they'd be little room left for next year's winner!!
It's nice to see that cgothicus has such confidence in my playing ability that he expects me to win for the next three years. I wish I shared his confidence as no one has won it two years in a row!

A friend has the motto ‘always bold always capital’ , usually in Latin though.
Would also suggest get a new engraver his eye-site must be very poor if he thinks that was big.
Everything gets bigger the further south you go?
I understand from younger friends that on social media ( what ever that is ) Twitter Is trending #northerncupsllippingfromgraspoflastyearsluckywinner, trending in even larger numbers than #claudiusgothicusfriendsofalegend I understand.
I make no further comment.
