hi! an idea, adding dice in function of the combat factors difference (after bonus/malus modification) difference 0-1 : no change, all is in the hand of God (Dice God Big DhéDhé of course! ) 2-3 : adding 1 dice > 2 options : a) you may decide to throw the dice again (keeping the new one) b) you throw 2 dices, keeping the highest one (beware to egal result sometimes!) 4-5+ : adding 2 dices > 2 options : a) you may decide to throw the dice again (keeping the new one) and 1 time more if needed b) you throw 3 dices, keeping the highest one.
what option do you prefer? a) or b)? or none, it will change the game too much and it work well without?
it add some chance for the stronger unit, but, it don't solve "bad chance result" when factors are near or equal (loosing a battle 4-3 with a simple psiloi combat, throwing a 1 and opposant a 6 (4-5-6 will be the same result)) if you have idea for this...
just my 2 cents of this morning,

Good morning Bluestone! Interesting! Fireball Forward uses a similar multi dice mechanic based on weapon system. You roll either white or red dice or a combination of both (and a d20 range dice but we can ignore that for ancients). The red dice only ever hits on a 6, but the white dice is standard with cover modifiers etc. If you could make the dice roll a single roll of several dice and then you immediately can see how your, ill call it “exponential” results play out. Will have to play test...
Good suggestion!
