I have started painting my I/37b Zagros Highlanders, and have decided to use the BAB15 figures from Magister Militum for the 3Ax.
As I started painting one up, I noticed that the left leg of the figure has the beginnings of a boot, most likely ones used by the Assyrians, yet the left leg is bare foot, which is what the figure should be.
I wonder what happened for this to occur?
Really strange!

Maybe that was the front foot when throwing the javelin , so it gave more grip on the ground ?

The figures are nearly 30 years old and the painted examples were probably done when first made and cast. I expect they have been remastered and/or remoulded since then and that is when teh change was made.

This also explains the missing grooves on the shield above and below the fellow's arm.
