Colleagues,
I want to develop a scenario for this Battle but a bit confused and need some advice.
For the Scots Army I believe I can use the Scot’s Common List and troop types and seem reasonable.
But what about the Nowegian Army. The date fits within the 1280 End date for the III/40 b normal Viking list. But is that actually applicable.
Was the Kingdom of Norway still fighting as Blade dominant. I looked at the Head book on Feudal Europe and the Scandinavian troops have become similar to other Western troops - so no traditional Vikings a la Stamford Bridge then?
On Baz Battles he does use the word Leidang - but in the Army lists Leidang armies do not have Scots Common as enemies....
How could I set this up and look reasonable with appropriate troops?
Any ideas - Peter

Any ideas - Peter Phippsy, I'm working on a series of scenarios for battles fought in the British Isles beginning with Watling St and ending with Flodden. One of these battles is Largs. For my scenario these are the foces that I think are appropriate: Danes III/40b 1x4Bd(Gen), 10x4Bd, 1x3Ax. Scots Isles III/78 1x3Kn(Gen), 5x4Bd, 2x3Wb, 1x3Ax,2x3Bw, 1x5Hd. I'd be interested in how your scenario plays out. Cheers,

Thanks Gregorious,
From what I have read I will probably go with the Scots Common rather than the Highlamds and Islands List. My understanding is at this date there was a strong Centralised Scottish Kingdom which is covered by the list.
For the Kingdom of Norway I may go the Viking List you are proposing to use, but with a Higlamds and Islands Ally.
Something like that.
I was also interested in how the troops may have looked in the Norway (Viking) army at this time. Researching this.
Thanks
Peter
