Forgive me if I've missed a discussion on this topic apart from it being a suggestion for an add on in a future version of the rules, but what historical evidence can be found to sustain such behaviour? For it to be applicable as an accepted rule it really has to reflect a regular pattern of behaviour throughout the time-period which the rules cover. Sure enough we will possibly see a tirade of Historical examples of sustained missile fire that stopped charges in their tracks which can be offset by examples of units sustaining heavy casualties from withering fire yet still closing and defeating their opponents.... Yet neither case has a definitive priority as being more likely to occur more than the other which is Imho covered well enough by the random dice through.... so why the need for change?

I cover this in depth in an article in the latest Slingshot magazine from the Society of Ancients. Send me a PM. And...of course order the Slingshot...or better Subscribe! It is well worth it.
