I have long been keen on expanding into the Renaissance period and think MAXIMILLIAN an excellent enhancement or me-too set of rules for the early sixteenth century Italian Wars. Any reason why this should be better or more appropriate than DBR or DBA-RRR for ECW?

It just means you don't need to get your head round a new set of rules. It's just DBA 3.0 with a tiny English Civil War flavour. If that's not what you want you should look elsewhere.

Having read your rules I will give them a whirl when my other projects (1066 Hastings Campaign and WW1 Air combat campaign) are finished.
one question on the army lists.Probably me just being thick. It has listed as an example, 4 (1 Sh + 1 Pk) Musketeers and pikemen. Does that equate to 4 elements of pike/shot or 8 elements total, 4 each of pike element and shot element?
Ok forget the above! Just found my answer in the rules! .

Yes sorry that is not clear that's meant to be short for 4 elements in total 2(shot each supported by a pike element). How might I have expressed this more clearly? Do let me know how you get on with it.
