Just wondering what people do usually? 2 bw x 2 bw? 3 x 3? 4 x 4?

I usually base the size around the model I'm using for the BUA. So they can vary quite a bit. However,I haven't gone to the maximum permitted.
Cheers,

I have assorted BUA structures In various sizes, and I have bases of various sizes on which to put them. I make my selection once I know the rough terrain area and what my opponents army will be. It’s Interesting that one’s army must be selected, usually, and used throughout the tournament but one can change terrain from game to game. It might be fun for a tournament to require a player to use the same terrain and set up when defender in all his games.

Like Timurilank and Bob, my terrain is modular, and either small (1½ x 3 BW) or large (3 x 6 BW)... ...but remember that one, and only one, terrain piece can be as small as 1 x 1 BW, unless it’s a gully. Soooo...a plain brown oval is Rough Going, place a low fence or hedge around it and it becomes an Enclosure, stick some trees on it and it becomes a Wood, plop some huts on it and it becomes a Hamlet, surround the huts with a tall stone wall and it becomes a barbarian Walled Town, keep the tall stone walls but remove the huts and it becomes a Fortress. But you asked about BUAs Aegontheunready. Well, I use the following chart to make my decisions. (you’ll need to consult this to see why:- fanaticus-dba.fandom.com/wiki/File:COMBAT_EFFECTS_CHART_for_DBA_%26_HOTT.pdf )
FORT & CITY SIZES, AND THEIR POSITIONS
Defender:- The Best The Attacker 'might' have against foot:-
| Assault CF 5 | Assault CF 4 | Assault CF 3 | Assault CF 2 | Garrison CF 5 | large (6) | large (3) | large (1) | large (0) | Garrison CF 4 | edge (10) | large (6) | large (3) | large (1) | Garrison CF 3 | corner (10) | edge (10) | large (6) | large (3) | Garrison CF 2 | corner (15) | corner (10) | edge (10) | large (6) | civilians in a city | corner (26) | corner (21) | corner (15) | corner (10) |
Brackets show the chances out of 36 of being destroyed if there are 3 assaulting or an Art+2 bows shooting. Those placed tucked-up in a table corner are small (1½ x 1½ BW) and can only be assaulted by two enemy. Those placed on a table edge are 1½ x 3 BW and are usually only assaulted by 2 enemy due to Threat Zones. A large Fort or City can be placed anywhere you like (up to 6 BW from two table edges of course).
