This was a productive weekend. On Friday my package arrived from Khurusan so I now have all the figs needed to finish off the Siamese. I spent the time prepping them for painting, finishing off the rebasing of my Medieval Vietnamese and Golden Horde. While organising new purchases and sorting out figures for new armies or the DBA3 compliance box I took stock of what was in the boneyard and what was to come out of the IV/6a Syrians.
An exiled 3Wb and Cv from the Fatimids along with the extra 3Wb (now surplus to requirements) from the Syrians have been soaked off their bases and now need new ground paint and flocking to match the rest of the army as the extra elements of Cv and 5Hd to round this army off.
This puts my collection of fully purple compliant DBA3 Armies at 58. The Golden Horde just need one element of Cv (prepped but queued up behind some other strips) to join the crew.
Cheers

Yesterday I polished off two more elements for my Scots Common - 1xPk and 1x3Bw
As I look at the tray of strips underway I am confronted by a sea of undercoat with little progress made - but if I can power through the 24 Khurusan Siamese figures then another army is done - yay
cheers

Today I managed to get the second elephant for my Cham army painted.
The elephant itself was a resin model already painted that I bought in a junk store in Nowra on the NSW coast 15 years ago. It cost me all of $0.50 Australian and even today I am kicking myself for not buying 50 of them. At the time I bought 2 - one has been the El in my Timurid army that has since been cannibalised to bring several other armies up to code - all that is left is the 3Bw and that elly with its cardboard howdah and Evil Gong Arabs for crew.
The second one has sat in a box with unpainted figs for all these years. Last week I put a Hall of Ancient Warriors Khmer platform on its back, an outpost Indian Cavalryman as the mahout and two crew figures (Outpost Burmese flag bearer - the flag fell off) and another figure with unknown provenance.
Cheers

An Umayyad army is ready for a bit of ground work and in a few days I can begin a number of historical matches. This is interesting to see the Arabs transition from a predominately blade armed force to an army imitating the Byzantines; a mix of cavalry, spear and bow.

In addition to the rather large number of other groups I am working on, picked these up off ebay recently - Obviously (as noted by the seller) needed some work and rebasing, but the for 41 bucks (with shipping) I think a pretty good deal. Started to pop the Essex Normans off to rebase and discovered that they were attached with silicone caulk... A little more work than anticipated as I expected white glue that would be easy to remove by soaking. Oh well, the shields are quite nicely done and I can jazz up the rest of the figures by adding some belts (have already done some work on the Norman infantry shields). Meanwhile back to the BBDBA Indian armies (Vedic, Mountain, Republican, and Classical) that I am trying to wrap up. that I am trying to wrap up. Have some chariots to prime and ellies and hordes to finish painting to be able to field them all without borrowing and a few options to bring up to speed.

Half way through a second command of Umayyad. As the Umayyad and Abbasid will have principle roles in the upcoming campaigns I have painted an extra command of each. Photos of these and the Arab Indian and Buyid will be posted to the blog next week.

So close to finishing my last 12 Siamese bowmen I had to stop or push the concept of a long lunch to new boundaries Still - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with 1x3Wb, 1x3Bd, 2x3Ax, 2x3Bw and 3xPs all looking just about ready to go and thus finish off my Siamese army. Likewise the Cham Cv and 2x3Wb are looking closer to done cheers

Outstanding camp Tony, I'm very impressed. Thanks for posting the photos. You are most welcome. It just takes a little longer to post things here vs. Facebook because of having to use an image hosting site and not having a home computer anymore.

In a marathon effort last night I put the finishing touches onto the last of my Siamese (2x3Bw, 3xPs, 2x3Ax, 1x3Wb, 1x3Bd). One more army joins the ranks of the DBA3 compliant. This represents a complete rebuild once I saw the excellent figures from Khurusan.
To top it off I also finished 2x3Wb and 1xCv for the Cham.
Now it is off to Olympian Games to get more bases. I seem to have run out of 20x40s
Cheers

Started painting a second command of Abbasid. These will have black turbans and topcoats, so the challenge will be to have some variation in shade.
I have used flesh and brown in the past, so I will experiment with other colours to mix with.
