Very nice. I like the variety of horse armour and the wicker shields.

The figures come with a lot of small parts to put together...shields, bow cases, sheathed swords, separate arms, & weapons. They look good when assembled.

Tony, Tony, Tony... That is SO cool looking. Hmm, when does our lour local Petco / Petsmart store open? Boouh Night is the theme for our group in two weeks' time.
Can you offer more detail on how you filled those gaping holes that aquarium pieces always seem to have? Wood putty....that's different from plaster spackle, right? (I'm obviously no home DYI guy.) How then did you paint or treat that, once dried? Looks as if those portions are depicted as crawling with ivy, right?
I also really like your Plowed Field. Very spiff as well. What are the dimensions of both your Fort and your Field? (Okay, enough questions.) Thanks!

What are the dimensions of both your Fort and your Field? (Okay, enough questions.) Thanks! For the holes, which were large AND hollow (that being the real problem as I damaged castle would not look like it was vac-u-formed) I placed strips of masking tape from the inside to give the hole some backing which I will use to give the putty some structure. Then I went to the hardware store and bought Elmer’s Wood Filler (the one that is the color and consistency of peanut butter.) I did not want to use plaster spackle as the wood filler might be more flexible and I did not want it to crack. I bought the non-water based one as I was going to paint with acrylics and did not want it to rub off. Surprisingly, it had almost no smell. I applied the wood filler with a popsicle stick into those areas that I wanted to “repair” and let dry overnight. Some of the larger holes required two applications. Once dry, I painted it. I did not want to carve the stone detail into the area that I repaired and it might have taken forever and a day, so the ivy covering worked pretty well. I glued it onto the base with epoxy (which is what I pretty much use for all my applications) and blended the ground work into the base of the castle (I was REALLY happy with how that blending turned out.) That particular model castle is not available on their website, not have I found it on the internet, but it retailed for around $9.00. I’ll have to get you the exact dimensions when I get home, but the castle base is about 120mm x 120mm. The field was part of several I bought at Historicon that a vendor was selling already made like that.

Rats. Neither the local Petco nor PetSmart has "Tony's Castle" in stock. (Could be that's why you also didn't see it listed on their website.)

Ebay doesn't have any of them either. I'll keep an eye out for one and let you know if I see it.

The base of the castle measures 100mm x 104mm.

Today's lunchtime effort sees the Trojans gain 1xLCh and 1xPs. This takes the army to 8 elements (2/3 of battle ready).
I was on a roll and was miffed that I had to stop before knocking over 1xSp and 1x4Bd for the Trojans (and maybe a Sp for the Achaians)
But needs must
Cheers

Superb amry and BUA, great work Tony! Some elements for my second Ottonian army. QR miniatures, except crossbowmen (unknown manufacturer) I cannot publish here photos of milites armati yet (participating in a small painting contest and have to obey rules), but you can see it here: strategie.net.pl/viewtopic.php?f=231&t=16356&start=15

Kretus,
Nicely painted Ottonian.
I had forgotten the QR range of figures and looked at their website. These are lovely castings.
The DBA army packs are available I read. Are the figures compatible in size with Essex or Baueda?

Qr fits well with Essex. Never had Baueda in my hands so cannot tell. Army packs from QR mamy be outdated (2.2), it's better to ask. But it's no problem to buy there an army completed on request. New Magyars from QR are excellent

Today I finished off 1x4Bd and 1xSp for the Trojans, also a Sp element for my Mycenaeans.
In addition I have broken the back of a major rebasing project. My Yuan Mongols require a fair number of extra elements to come up to DBA3 compliance. However I do not have enough of the brown Deco Sand that I used to flock the original army. Nothing for it but to soak the Yuan off their old cardboard bases and start over. The elements that are to remain in the army are now on magnetic bases (whilst the 2x5Wb (from the 2.2 lists now surplus to requirements) have been sent to the Northern Sung with a couple of extra figs to become 2x7Hd). The bases have been covered with a fine white sand and some gravel added, and now most of them have been painted a light brown for the earth. I just have to add some green flocking and a few tufts and then paint up 1xPs, 1x3Bw and 1x4Bw to bring the army up to code.
This shortage of the Deco Sand has forced me to do the same with my Early Samurai. A serious amount of extra figures is required for this one.
Cheers

My Ptolemaics took to the field yesterday against the Seleucids in our BUA City theme games. Making its debut was my newly finished BUA City in 6mm scale, which I purchased at least 20 years ago for Micro-Armour games.
