Nice. Just finished 2 x spearmen/levy (7Hd) for the Central Asian City. Only one is required, but they can also be used for the Turks of III/11b. You don’t recognize them as former Sassanid levy with dome headgear.

Painting Flags and Banners. This is my least favourite task, but one that needs doing as this project has remained dormant for over two years.
The flags are needed for the late medieval collection, originally collected for the ‘Witcher’ project. The plan is to have six flags/banners for each command; a general, two mounted and three for foot troops but I do not intend to fix the flags to figures or base but have them interchangeable.
I will post more at the blog later this week. I received an email stating my first order of Normans have been despatched which gives me a week to finish a reasonable number of flags.

I have finished painting fourteen banners representing two French medieval armies; the Royal army and Bretagne. Both were at times in conflict with one another. Next week, I plan another pair and hopefully at this tempo I should finish the project by January 2020.

Normans were delivered and I spent Friday cleaning, filing and minor conversions of 18 mounted and 24 dismounted knights. These were fixed to 5 wood strips. Saturday, 18 horses were painted in six different browns and black. Sunday, the chainmail, helms, backs of shields, and spears were painted covering nearly all the figure.
Next week, the details and dismounted figures.

Wish my club mate Matt was on here, he always flags up that there are no brown horses. He had a tear in his eye when I did a blue one and a yellow one.

Repainting most of my terrain pieces.
I purchased a terrain mat that does not match the colours of my terrain pieces so I want them to blend in more.
I also picked up some proper spray on adhesive and noticed that it dries to a matte look and is so much better than my pva glue / water mixture which I find dries to a glossy finish, so will be giving my flocked terrain pieces a spray with the new stuff.

I have seen black horse with shiny coats give a slight blue sheen. And Palomino horses (American breed) have a similar sheen giving a yellow tint. However, the majority of horse colours are variant shades of brown.

My style has not change much since then, but Old Glory has reduced the number of horse poses. dbagora.blogspot.com/2011/10/love-painting-horses-no-tears-method.html

As to horse colors, I like to throw in some reds with black manes and stockings.
Then a few grays and the rest are several shades of brown from tan to chocolate.
As to painting, I finished up a OG15 Medium Goth cavalryman (had to fix a spear) to complete an element. They will serve as KN until I break down and field a Spanish Ostrogoth and need some CV. And I already have some Minifig Gardini.
Then two elements of SP for my Italian Ostrogoths using OG15 MG-03 heavy foot armed with spear/javelin. Got too many of them in various purchases to be used just as WB as armor was not that common in the earlier years. Although if I need to field an additional Gothic army they can fill in.
I am also cutting bases to mount some OG15 Goth archers for 3 elements of 3BW and 6 of PS for the various flavors of Gothic armies.
Additional KN are in progress - 5 elements of OG15 and 2 of Donnington. Have 2 extra figures from each manufacturer that will require to pick up another to fill out an additional element of each. With OG15 having their Christmas sale that might take care of them.

Just finishing the Kn and Cv additions to HYW English, followed by the fast Bw/Cb elements, and then making a start on the Mitanni and Amorite Essex armies I bought a while ago - 1 of each to keep and 1 of each to sell. Hope to have these finished by the end of the Xmas holidays 😎
