Recently Wf(X) took a position in the same department, so we are car-pooling. Consequently I don't get to do as much painting at work, she is not a fan of long lunches and a late finish.
It has been a while since the brushes came out, but last night I completed the Kn(Gen) for the Italian Lombards and today (I had to come in early under my own steam for a specific task) I knocked over the Sp and Mdt-4Bw for my Anglo Irish. The Anglo Irish now join the ranks of the purple compliant.
Cheers

Some Baudea Lombards I've been working on. There are the figures for the Italian Lombard Army post 775AD.
War & Empire Roman Town Buildings in the background.
The next trance prior to basing to be able to field and last minute touchup/highlight, for the Lombards prior to 775AD.
I'm looking at some warband & another Knight base on the paint table which I'll do next to be able to field the early Lombards prior to 584AD

Welcome to the Forum. Great looking Lombards and one of my favourite opponents for the Carolingian Franks or East Franks (Ottonians).

The remaining Lombards done. Pic. shows early Lombard army crossing a river while some dismounted Knights hold a hill. I think they must have paid a Roman Engineer to make the pontoon with looted gold.

That is a very nice looking waterway.

Great looking army richm, I discovered the Lombards quite by accident by adding them as allies to my Italio-Normans as an ally and have now expanded the army to the full III/21b list (when I paint the Spearmen) . I also plan to expand the army again to cover the (a) list and the earlier III/2 list... both will be very potent historical enemies for two of my existing armies.
Your posts are inspiring. 😊

On Saturday night I pulled out the paints and finished the two LH for the Moslem North Africa and Sicily and a new Cv general for my Mamluks - like Haardrada I am working on an Italo Norman set - in my case for next year's campaign
Thus far III/52 West Frankish or Norman - done - I've had this army for the better part of 25 years - and it was one of the early ones made up to DBA3 standards III/76 Konstantinian Byzantine - done and blooded at Cancon III/77 Papal Italian - Done III/73a Communal Italian - Done III/66 Fatimid Egyptian - Done (another one I have had for years) III/76 Islamic Berber - one of my first purpose built DBA armies - recently rebased and brought up to DBA3 standards III/12 Christian Nubians - Done - an old favourite and many times tournament winner in DBA2. Brought up to DBA3 standards last year. III/26b Serbian - Done III/26a Croatian - Done - the foot came from a prize voucher from MOAB last year, the mounted were finished at the start of this year. III/21b Italian Lombard - underway III/33 Early Muslim Sicily and North Africa - Underway II/55c Beja - boxed III/53 East Frankish - boxed
when the next strip of North African foot is done then the first elements of the Beja will be queued up in the starting trays
Cheers

Haven't quite solved the curling up problem but basically it is a card base with banks made from standard household filler that was painted with PVA glue, sprinkled with sand once it was dry. Then I used clear varnish on the water after painting it with various shades of blue/green/brown and painted/dry brushed the banks in several shades of brown.

You might be able to solve the curling problem by using packing tape under the card base. It should counteract the curling.
A tip I picked up from watching a Terrain Tutor video.
