Do camels get the pip penalty when in dunes/oasis? Simon By the rules they don't Simon...they can move as a group and as if in GG.

I guessed so - but one could argue that as pips are about giving orders to units, it is about how easy it is to get the orders to the camels. Eg the poor mrssenger and his horse floundering around in sand trying to find them in the dunes!!

That is a VERY interesting thought. So if Cm get to move with Ps as a group in dunes, camel treats dunes as good going. So from the camel's viewpoint, the dunes don't even exist! Which is why folks are saying they don't pay the pip penalty for being >4 BW from the general and in or beyond dunes. Because, as many of you think, since Cm treat dunes as Good Going, snd dunes are Bad Going, the dunes must not exist!
OK so for Bw, clearly their DELIVERY shooting is blocked beyond 1/2 BW for them. But hang on, from the Camel's viewpoint, the dunes don't exist, so the arrows DO indeed fly in... It reminds me of the relativity question - the pole-vaulter in the barn paradox.
I love it boys. Keep the ridiculousness coming. I needed a good few laughs on a slow Thursday!

I plan to make some transparent dunes - I reckon an overhead projector transparency just plopped on the table whenever Cm are around! That way, for the Cm, the dunes aren't there. But everyone remembers that for them, the dunes ARE there, amd can still see the outline! Perfect!
You know, DBA would be such a better game if we just got rid of all the DBA players!
My take is there is nothing wrong with the DBA rules as written It does tend to suffer from a steep learning curve, and frequent pilot error though...

I don't remember there being any dispute over the line of sight and command and control distance not applying to camels too?lol
In this day and age a projector does seem out-fassioned...a hologram beemed in by satalite however would look far better and be far more pleasing on the eye.🛰👁🏜🐫

Considering that my Midianites don't even have any horses any messenger would automatically be on a camel.
And for group moves we aren't talking about a 1/2BW visibility constraint as the elements have to be in physical contact to be a group.
Don't see the problems.

primuspilus, I don’t think many people would support your proposal to interpret the rules for Camels treating Dunes or Oasis as GG for movement as any rationale for Bow shooting at Camels in Dunes or Oasis ignoring the 1/2 BW visibility rule. I’m not sure where you are going with that suggestion.
