Hi everyone.
Newbie here recently introduced to DBA 3.0. Stuck in hospital in Vienna with complications to a broken ankle.
Not sure if I'm stuck here for a day or a week.
If anyone has time, inclination, and desire to face a total newbie please let me know.

If anyone has time, inclination, and desire to face a total newbie please let me know. If you get an opponent, please please please take a pic of you playing DBA with a ankle cast! That's badass. Reminds me of a photo of 2 gentlemen playing DBA outside in a snowstorm.

Thanks Greedo, I will ask my opponent to get one with the wheelchair, cast and a report of how well or badly I did.

Welcome to the fun, but sorry to hear of your situation. The title of this thread was strange. How could any one be "Stuck in Vienna"?? I would love to be there, such a great city. But the full text reveals the sad circumstance. Good luck with an opponent, and looking forward to the photo

Thanks Bob, under ordinary circumstances Vienna is a blast, plenty to see, do and enjoy, good food, beer, wine and every period of history you could shake a stick at.
But, and there's always a but, I can only lay here, or sit in a wheelchair, and remember NOT to put any weight on my ankle.
Getting quite good at rolling backwards, good foot powered,at silly speeds, but rolling forward one good arm, one bad, I've been passed by snails! ;-)
In danger of going stir crazy, I can but hope that someone out their cares for the underdog!

Good luck with the recovery and the games. You could def get a 2x2 board balanced on a hospital bed table.

Thanks Baldie, nobody's rushing out of the wood work yet, but we'll see how lucky I can get!

We've missed each others visits by a few years sorry...I would have popped in as had plenty of time to kill.Sorry you have an ankle problem and hopefully yours will be sorted soon...I took a full 4.5 months to sort mine and had to have a plate inserted. It was tragic how it happened as I'd been jumping on and off lorries in Derry in a cold, icy December then came home and skidded off the back door step! I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you get a game.

Thanks Haadrada, icy icy icy, that's what got me, right foot slide away, left twisted and snapped...it's a very strange feeling when your joints and bones, don't work the way they are ment to.

I'd been jumping on and off lorries in Derry in a cold, icy December then came home and skidded off the back door step! Very ‘Pyrrhos of Epiros’ - survive all those battles, and then nobbled by a thrown roof tile. How ignominious 😵 . Good luck with your recovery, christophori

Got another 4 - 5 days stuck here at least.
Anyone who feels the need to travel through Austria, and happens to have their DBA kit with them, is more than welcome to drop in! :-)

Salutations, Christophori, and other gentlefolk !
My first thought was that you had been besieged by the Turks, but I see you're immobilized from more mundane cause. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Myself hobbled home from Cold Wars with an attack of gout, spent two days laid up grumbling, starting to feel better. Is first day of Spring in northern hemisphere, which is heartening.

Thanks for the well wishes, I hope your gout doesn't stop you running marathons, (to and from).
Trying to be a good patient, and succeeding for the most part, but it's all hurry up and wait. Can't be recast until the war wounds have healed, can't hurry the wound to heal, can't stand on my head, (my legs are too short)! :-)
If anyone knows anyone who lives in Vienna or it's suburbs, please feel free to reach out and pass my info along.
I'm not really a grumpy old man, I just play one in these posts!
Thanks to everyone who's looked in on this thread.
