The French army faced the English across an open meadow flanked by woods either side.
The french elected to have most of their knights mounted. Only 1 unit dismounted in reserve with the mounted General. They also took a unit of Scottish Bow, Crossbowmen and Cavalry.
The English formed a line of Longbows with dismounted blades behind. The reserve included mounted General and Longbow. Bombards on the flank.
My fears that my Longbows would be ridden down were unfounded. The French had poor pip rolls and moved forward slowly the Knights keeping beside the Scots bow and Crossbows. That was there mistake. They were picked off well before closing with the English. A Unit of French knights did destroy a unit of English Blades and a unit of Longbows was lost to the Scots Bow.
But the English won 2 to 4. The French losing their crossbows and 3 Knights.
I felt I had a very easy win, mainly due to kind dice rolls!

I believe your tactical thread questions payed dividends then?...Perhaps a re-run may be a bit more closely fought if the dice-gods are more lenient to the French perhaps?

The French should all dismount as Blades (with at most a KN Gen and maybe one other Knight - neither of which should try and make contact until the Blades have closed). After Crecy the French generally dismounted most of there army with Knights deployed only as potential flank attackers (often in the end getting funnelled back into the Yeoman due to terrain etc.)

Well re-match played. This time the dice Gods were not on my side. The mounted French Knights although recoiled initially by my Longbows closed the gap and got into close combat. I lost 4 elements of Longbow! The French lost 1 element of Scots Bow.
I will re-read the advice!

Would love to see them. I have been pondering on spending time to get some 6mm armies going, but have faltered on the project a few times.

What scale are your armies? 2mm is mighty small. I have English Civil War armies in 28mm Early Imperial Roman, Ancient British and Parthian in 20mm and also two War of the Roses Armies in 20mm. 2mm Armies for Hundred Years War. The 2mm Figures are from Irregular Miniatures. They look very good on mass. You can see what each troop type is. They also paint up very quickly. For example an element of French Knights are 2 x 2mm Knight strips (each strip has 8 knights) on a 40mmx15mm base. I undercoated brown. That gives the horses colour. I then dabbed each horse front and rear with a colour. Red,Yellow, blue etc ,that shows the barding/canopies worn by the knights horses. Then I dab silver on the riders and there you have a painted element of French Knights. Longbows I undercoat brown, that gives the bows colour ,then I paint the top of the figures a bright colour and underneath a contrasting colour, that's the livery, then a tiny blob of silver on each head, for a kettle helmet or skull cap. There is an element of longbows. I base longbows 3 strips (each strip is a single line of 10 longbows) to a base, 2 strips to the front and 1 to the rear representing the Captains contingent. French bows/crossbows the same except they have 1 strip to the front and 2 to the rear. Dismounted men at arms (Blades) are made to show 2 ranks (blocks of 20 men to a strip) so I base 2 strips in line. Horde are 4 strips on a base. Bombards 2 to a base. Bombards are maade individually will bombard and 4 crew. By using bases sizes normally for 15mm figures you can play on a 24"x24" board and get a really good mass effect. Price is good too. I purchased both armies as a Battle Pack deal for £15.00. Irregular also include 3 x BUA 2mm models in the pack. In fact irregular do a scenery pack in 2mm, includes hills, woods, town, villages, farms with hedges etc. Although they can be fiddly to use they give an excellent DBA game, but i think other rule systems such as To the Strongest could be a bit of a challenge. Tonight I will attempt to take some photo's and post them on my web page with a link here. Meanwhile here is a link to Irregular Miniatures www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/
