As I am trying out the American Civil War as a new period I was looking for a cheap and effective way to create armies.
Having previously used Billy Bones English Civil War figures I returned to his site and through the Wargames Vault for the cost of around £6 I purchased his ACW pack. This includes both union and Confederate forces. Infantry, Cavalry both mounted and dismounted with horse holders. Artillery limbered and unlimbered. Command stands, generals and casualty figures. Also included is scenery, buildings, fences, trees, roads etc.
The figures are in the style of the old black and white 1860's sepia photographs one sees, which gives them a very gritty and realistic feel. The figures come in two sizes, small, about 10mm or large about 28mm. I chose to use the 28mm set.
Photo's show Union Cavalry, Union Gun and Union limber with House in the rear.
All units have the same frontage except artillery, but this is overcome by have 2 cannon mounted together.
For the additional cost of printer ink and an evening spent cutting and sticking 2 very effective forces were created.
Quality is very good they are easy to store. Highly recommend thses paper figures if you want to try out the conflict before purchasing and painting solid figures.
