As a result of the discussion regarding the placement of camps and the effect of ploughed fields I have constructed a 1.5BW×1BW camp. I used some leftover Baueda walls and tufts of long forgotten manufacturer. You can see a couple of images on the DBA and HOTT Wargaming FB page. Just search for Greg Kelleher.
Cheers,

Great camp Greg. It is well presented and ideal for many of your armies.
I have struggled with camp sizes over the years. I really enjoy the aesthetics of some of the camps I have seen, but struggled to come up with a more generic model. A few years ago I was particularly taken with the versatility that “Commiades” has achieved and embarked on a similar modular approach. My camps mostly comprise a 40mm x 40mm tent, supplemented by two 40mm x 20mm scenic sections or camp followers etc. All are generally themed, but a Greek camp can do service with Successors, assuming the camp followers are suitable.

My idea for a generic camp is based upon my experience of camping, both in civilian and military life.
1 x Model Tent. (Must have a leak) 1 x Large muddy area for the base 1 x Large muddy puddle to be placed outside tent door. 1 x Camp fire with no flames/heat 3 or 4 x small trees and bushes 3 or 4 x items of clothing/sleeping bags, these are to be festooned on the bushes in a dismal attempt at drying 1 or 2 x Figures bug eyed from lack of sleep in huddled position staring vacantly at the non functioning fire.
Sounds good for any era or geographical location to me!

Greg, Nice camp but there appears little room for an element of denizens.

Thanks Keith. As I have mentioned to you before, I tend to go for the maximum sized camp to model vignettes. Cheers,

Greg, Nice camp but there appears little room for an element of denizens. Hi Robert, Thanks for your comments. With regards to placing a CF element, I made sure that there is sufficient room if the element is placed perpendicular to the front edge. Cheers,

My most minimalistic camp is for my late swiss,it consists of 2 scruffy tents either side of a dirt track with a little flocking. There is plenty of room for the camp follower element of 2 kneeling/praying figures plus a couple of monks...a scene borrowed from the start of the Battle of Granson when the Burgundians mistakenly mocked the Swiss ritual praying before a battle as begging for Duke Charles's mercy.
