Seeing how it looks like we will only be playing ONE version of DBA from now on, I decided to do a breakdown of how many logged games I have per rule version:
DBA 2.2: 393 games DBA 2.2+: 583 games DBA 3.0: 195 games (...and counting)
It's DBA night (Tuesday) so hopefully I can get 5 games in and break the 200 game barrier.
BTW a logged game is a standard game that starts off like normal. Teaching newbies, historical scenarios, BBDBA Doubles, or other types of DBA games that do not start off as a normal game are not included in this total.

Five games in an evening is impressive Tony. Perhaps it suggests a longer gaming window than my own. Either way it sounds like your group is enjoying the games.

The thing that really speeds finishing games is not moving your stuff from table to table. At a convention it is very hard to get more than 3 games in a 4 hour session due to grabbing all your things and getting re-situated with a different opponent. It is not unusual to get those 5 weekly games finished in less than 4 hours, even with the chit-chat etc. Just for the record I don't think that DBA 3.0 generates a finished game faster than other versions of DBA. If we were to play the same match ups game after game I'm sure you could knock out 7 games in 4 hours, without rushing. Generally what we do, is one player plays their latest army and the others play their historical opponents one at a time in sequence. This makes for some really interesting battles.

Tony:
You have passed me in DBA 3.0 games played. And as half of mine were play test games often using rules that no longer exist you may be the most experienced DBA 3.0 player in the universe.
Since we have (at least apparently) entered the non-stress period of rule analysis, please feel free to comment on any play balance, simulation or clarity issues you have encountered. The FAQ/Development team is always interested in player feedback.
So far no army or element type seems to be sweeping all before it in 3.0 (Development team breaths sigh of relief).
Enjoyed our games at H-con which I assume are part of the mighty 200.

They just don't keep any records. I agree with your assessment of no super-element in DBA 3.0. I will probably post any questions on this forum in the 3.0 section so all can benefit from the interpretations. I just need to be a little more diligent in taking pictures when the situations arise, which cause some doubt in "what the rules actually say." I too enjoyed our games at Historicon and look forward to many more. I have been fortunate to have been able to attend Historicon every year since 2006.

Tony, you are right about DBA 3 and speed. We have not found games significantly shorter on average. We have found that in certain cases, games can be over very fast, but I recall 2.2 games that could also end just as quickly. We found increasing movement rates changed the way we position ourselves, due to the inherent dangers of fast warband, for instance! And in many cases, moving the maximum amount is definitely the sub-optimal move.

With DBA 3.0, the moves are "faster" but the combats tend to last longer as there are no QK from not having a full recoil available.

I play most Tuesday nights, DBA 2.2. Ideally we have four of us. Each one of us normally gets 3 games. That is normally between 8pm and 10.15pm. That includes time for me to inflict my various puerile rants on the other players. If there is just two of us, we often get four games in. In fairness, we all play a lot and play very fluently and quickly.
