Armies consisting entirely of hordes, armies that herd war cattle, and guys throwing hornets' nests. You know the sort of thing! Recommend some really weird and wacky armies to me!

The ones with disguised elements take the prize as far as I'm concerned. The Mu-jung Hsien-pi's dust throwing women with banners mounted on oxen is possibly my favourite. (II/61b)

Depends on your sense of 'wacky', e.g. some people may think an army of predominantly one type would be wacky, e.g. barbarian warband, Steppe LH or a Greek Sp army, (try the Theban with two double ranked Sp, one of which is the general, it has the added weirdness that you may only have to lose 2 elements to lose the game!)
However if you're looking for unusual armies as a whole, rather then armies with weird elements in them here's some other specific suggestions:
I/60b Cyrus' Army - A couple of Cv (inc Gen), 1 scythed chariot, 5 double ranked Bw, 1 WWg, 1 Cm, 1 Ax and 1 Ps. No Allies and only 1 enemy, the Lydians!
Quite a few people probably own Hd heavy armies, just for the fun of it. They seem to appear quite regularly at Tarrington where you mostly give your army to other people to play with, though of course in the last (possibly crunch) game, you have to use it yourself! Spartacus Slave revolt has certainly been there. I've used a mainly 3Ax based Spanish there.
My own Hd army is an Early Libyan (well I had some figures that would do and they're easy to paint!) This is: 1 3Wb Gen, 6 x 5Hd, 2 x 3Bw, 3 Ps (Though to be honest I also have the 6 x 3Ax painted up as well.)
Amongst the various piles of unpainted figures I also have an Aztec army IV/63 which can be: 1 x 3Bd Gen, 2 x 3Bd, 6 x 5Hd, 1 x 3Wb, 2 x Ps.
I also have a Hussite army IV/80, which made an appearance at Tarrington last year. Although it wasn't set up as this, you could have: 1 LH, 4 x 4Bd 1 Art and 6 WWgs, one of which is the Gen. One advantage is, there's no camp for the enemy to sack!
Finally, going back to the 'predominantly one type that would be wacky' army, in the last game at Tarrington I played against Richard Pulley's South Welsh III/19b, which I think was: 1 Cav Gen, 9 x 3Lb and 2 x 3Ax. I seem to remember it came out as the top performing army, or close to it!
As for weird elements, it's still a source of frustration for me that the West Sudanese doesn't allow stamping cattle in the DBA army as they did in DBM! I have 5 bases of cattle painted up, so any suggestions from anyone as to armies I can use them in would be appreciated!

Brenuss, A problem with answering your question is that DBA is at such a high level of abstraction, you don’t find those weird units in great numbers, where they make up one 12th of the whole army. In a game like DBMM or DBR (the Renaissance version) You do find such entities. In DBR they are called Sk(X) X for extraordinary. I wonder if DBMM still has flaming pigs and camels disguised as elephants?
In the first edition of DBA, There were some weirdies Such as war dogs and stampeding cattle. These came out in the next edition, I guess because Phil realized that there were not such big elements in the DBA size army.
There are however still some strange ones, such as mentioned by menacussecundus. That element is deployed as the knight, But in the second bound is replaced by a horde. This is like a couple of other armies, I think may be a Greek one, that deploys as spears and changes to hordes. There are also some strange generals sitting on thrones, or chairs, or praying or carried in litters.

There's also an element of disguised Saxons in II/18 Breton supposedly to depict an actual campaign: apparently Breton peasants 7Hd, on contact it's replaced with Saxon 4Wb.

My weirdest Army are the Aztecs IV/63. Outrageous costumes depicting Eagles and Jaguars with large and colourful back banners. Odd and ineffective weapons (sharp sticks and broken glass - literally.) Not a horse or llama in sight. A camp depicting human sacrifice. Plus with half the Army Hordes it can survive 75% casualties and still be fighting. What’s not to like!

For wacky elements I do like the screaming women horde in the Ancient British list (see post) fanaticus.boards.net/post/11194For strange armies the Kyrenean Greek list where hoplites get to ride around on chariots before deploying are fun. Cheers Jim

If you consider them wacky...armies that can dismount on mass would fit the description..we are not just talking Knights dismounting here that have to choose at deployment, these guys get to ride around a bit first...III/54b Qarmamita have 8xCm elements that can dismount as 4xSp and 4x3Lb respectively...and IV/18 Lithuanian and Samogitian which can choose 3xCv and 8xLh or 11xLh all dismounting as 3bw!
