Here in Christchurch New Zealand gamers of other rule sets are digging out their old 25/28mm armies and playing BBDBA rather than standard DBA in 15mm. DBMM never achieved a following here where as DBA has been played constantly for many years. I expect the numbers of 25/28mm BBDBA players to increase with the demise of FoG AM here. All good for DBA v3

Tom Thomas and I are trying hard to push 25mm DBA here in the states. The new Perry boxes make late Medieval easy for 25mm. Most of my demo games are in 25mm. In Great Battles... Enguingatte and Brunanburh are 25mm... Bagradas is in 15mm. Joe Collins Why the push for 25mm scale? Looks or is it becoming easier/cheaper to do 25mm in DBA?

For my case, I'm moving to 28mm for two reasons: * I have a fair number of 28mm figures left over from my attempt at WAB (Mostly Vikings&Greeks, but dba3 makes those armies less dull, and I never really got enough figures painted to do WAB right....) * I have trouble seeing very small things as I get older, and 15mm have become too hard to paint for me.
Future work for me is all going to be 28mm. I'm even considering selling off my unpainted 15mm army packs (essex, mostly), since I no longer believe I'll use them.
The bad part about 28mm DBA is that armies are considerably more expensive to buy. It's harder to drop $100us on a whim, and at least from the manufacturers I prefer, that seems to be the average (lowballed) cost of a new 28mm DBA army.

Though I have been painting miniatures since 1985. My first armies were all 25mm. My first DBA games were all 25mm. While I have tons of 15s... I really love my 25s. Joe Collins

I know the question related to the UK but here in Atlanta we use 25/8mm. I've got a few 15mm figures (a left over 7th edition army), they are just for tournament gaming outside the local area. I loan them out to the rest of group if they want to play in 15mm tournaments as they don't have any 15mm figures. One of the main reasons more of them don't play in tournaments is lack of interest in 15mm.
Oddly most of us find 25mm figures easier to paint than 15mm - it certainly takes me longer to paint a 15mm army but part of that is motivation - I have several half finished and in the meantime I've done a dozen 25mm armies.
I strongly suggest using 4X4 for 25mm. 25mm works great for big battle. Much easier to tell element types apart as visual clues are much easier to see. Also readilable available in local stores unlike 15mm.

Re cost: try the new plastic figures. Excellent quality from many companies. You can get close to an entire DBA army with one box (or bag) - cost generally around $35.00.
Even with some add ons its easy to build an army for around $50.00.

I understand he has a neat HoTT campaign hybrid themed on Game of Thrones. Cheers, Fred

I'm in South Yorkshire and am converting all of my 25mm armies from DBM to DBA. This includes Sumerian, Guti, Egyptian, Macedonian, Republican Roman, Early/Mid/Late Imperial Romans, Picts, Scots, Normans ... The small size makes 25mm more flexible.

Changing all my 15mm WRG and DBM armies to a DBA format generated 2,300 elements. These were various horse and musket as well as ancient collections and took about a year to complete.
I would say revising the DBA-HX to use with 3.0 was greatest motivating factor to initiating the change.

I just ordered some Perry 28mm Samurai. I played with 25's mostly growing up but now back to it since I'm not interested in the open tourney format much anymore so the 15's don't hold as much sway as they used to. My only concern is will 4 blade of these figures fit on a base? lol

I've got thousands of 25mm figures, bought for WRG 6th many years ago. I'm now converting them to DBA 3: it makes painting the lead mountain a more attractive prospect. Plus I actually like the naivety of some of the 'early' figures (based on the 'Armies of ...' series by WRG). However I know of nobody else who has any.

I've got medievals in 25mm and plenty of 1/72 based for 25mm, do they count?
