ollowing up on "Strategies to overcome the "almost finished" problem" and my pledge to showcase one army a month in 2018. Here is the 4th for the year. II/19c Seleucid (under Antiochus)….now I can hear the murmurs of disapprovals already….you just show cased II/19a…how is II/19c so different? How many of the units are reused from II/19a? Well the answer is just one; the Nellie….and what is different? Well this army has Cataphracts – and that is never a bad thing. Again the figures are Magister Militum and although I bought this army 20+ years ago I never painted all the figures completely. Indeed the pike figures had been part painted since 1991, the thureophoroi are new paints and the scythed chariot is also new. I do like the figures, but one niggle is that the lovely pike figures have stupid short thick spears (not pike) and by this time they should be 18-20ft long…I’ll drill them out and replace them with wire one day. Also I probably need to paint up some Imitation Legionaries, Thracians and Galatians to make this army complete. Again this army is excellent on the table top. The 4Pk are hard as nails (as always), the cataphracts are solid but the 3Kn adds flexibility, the single El doesn’t chew too many PIPs plus the Psloi and 4Ax make the army deadly in bad going. In short it plays well!
First the whole Army: Next the infantry:

What shade of blue are you using for the scythed chariot? Just love it! That was a very, very old pot of Humbrol Authenticolour Enamel - Prussian Dragoon Blue. I think it worked rather well.
