The theme for the PAWS Autumn DBA on 29 September 2018 will be as follows
Two Empires, Three Kingdoms and Many Clans - Korea and her Neighbours in the 7th Century AD (601-700 AD)
II/61 d Pre-Dynastic Khitan or Hsi Army II/75 Paekche Korean Army II/76 Koguryo Korean Army II/77 a&b Shilla Korean Army III/6 a&b Emishi Army III/7 a Kofun Japanese Army III/7 b Ritsuryo or Early Heian Japanese Army III/11 b Central Asian Turkish III/20 a&b Sui Chinese Army III/20 c Early T’ang Chinese Army
I was interested how many of the potential participants, have had to recruit new armies for the event. The geography is definitely not one that I know well, and it has been interesting developing some knowledge to assist selection, and the subsequent commission for the painting...tricky to bring one’s painting gear to Guyana.
Im not entirely sure if i can make this one as currently no army and no spare cash to get one, unless somehow essex will deliver next day and i paint it in 3 days...
May there be some of the required armies around that could be lent for the event?
I think many of us are struggling with this one, Peter:- 7th century Korea and its environs is not one I had much in the way of figures for, nor did I have lots of time to paint one up specially. Happen to have some ‘generic’ Chinese to make my own army, but any accurate figures for others on the list are beyond me.
However, PAWS never turn up their noses at ‘inaccurate/ahistorical’ armies, so providing we can tell what the figures are representing it’s never been an issue in the past. ‘Turn up and play’, seems to be the rule of thumb.
