Here's a posed photo of the core of Eric Donaldson's newly renovated, II/19b Seleucid army. (All 15mm Essex) Taking full advantage of the optional, 20mm deep basing in V-3 and the static, upright pose of the Essex pikemen, Eric created this very formidable looking phalanx. There are (count 'em) 48 figures in those four elements of Solid Pikes. All hand-painted shields too, by the way. And one is still able to see every one of those shields. (Well, some of them at least.) This mounting may not be everyone's cup of tea, but, to my eye, at least, Eric really achieved the Phalanx "look" with this army, which has always been difficult to simulate in DBA. Note also the Solid Horde at left. That's a new addition to the Seleucids in Purple.

All the pikes were available due to a TACTICA Seleucid army painted some 25 years ago. That diaspora has allowed me to create many DBA armies.

Lol, I remember Tactica fondly with its fists full of dice!

Here's another, close-up view of Eric's innovative (but legal!) Seleucid "12Pk" elements. Eric says he usually winces at close-up views of his armies. I have no idea why.

Paul, any chance of getting a side on shot to get an idea of how the figures rank up?

I'm technology impaired and have never posted a picture before but I did manage to get this side view of the phalanx. Hope its helpful. Obviously it can only work with this Essex pike pose.

Salutations, gentlefolk !
A very well painted army
A decade back, had some of the old Minifigs phalangites with lowered pike, made an 8-figure stand. Stand needed to be 40mm or so deep (figures and details lost in mists of time) to keep from falling forward, should have been 7 figures 4/3 (and if I'd had more of those figures would have made a 3/4 figure stand to place alongside.
There have been _Tactica_ games at Maplewood Hobby in the past year - Dave Waxtel, one of original _Tactica_ authors, is one of our denizens.
