I'm finally getting around to starting some "Purple" renovations of my Successor armies. Although lotsa fun stuff has been added to these armies, e.g. Olympias' Litter, etc., I wonder why Demetrios' (WWg tower) of II/16b AES went poof. He used them at Rhodes. Any thoughts or guesses why this was dropped from the DBA-3 lists?

Can't answer your question but that is a cool tower!

I suspect the answer is that Rhodes was purely a siege and not a battle. More infuriating is that with the demise of the WWg Tower in Demetrios' army means that the last paragraph of MOVING INTO CONTACE WITH ENEMY (p9 para 12) seems as good as moot "CP, Lit, CWg, Art or WWg cannot move into contact with enemy, except that a WWg mobile tower can contact an enemy-held city, fort or camp."When I read this new line in the playtest rules (before the lists were published) I started to salivate - under the assumption that a few more armies would get mobile towers (cities for the taking of) I thought I could assemble and paint up my Assyrian Mobile Tower and use it with my Assyrian army. Instead the incidence of towers has been cut by half - the only General that can assault a fort with his War Wagon is Cyrus in I/60b disappointing

I don't know what you are talking about but I love that army and that tower. Great stuff! Cyrus and his SciFi Persians are the last army to have a WWg defined as a Mobile Tower making it the Only army that can assault a City or Fort with a WWg One of my regular players loves to bring along that army to my tournaments and regularly does well with it. There is a lot to love cheers
